Brady Turns 6 Months, Shedd Aquarium, and Chicago Children's Museum

At the beginning of February, we finally got a good amount of snow to play in!  Ethan and Mike had fun shoveling, throwing snowballs, and sledding.  Here is Ethan's HUGE snowball he found at the end of the driveway.

While Mike and Brady played outside, Brady and I stayed nice and warm playing inside :)

The first weekend of February we also celebrated Kileigh's 5th birthday at the bowling alley.  Ethan had lots of fun bowling with the other kids.  It was especially fun because it was in the dark with lots of black lights.
Final scores for Paisley, Braelynn and Ethan

Brady even had a good time at the birthday party!
We have also been working on introducing lots of new foods to Brady.  So far he has tried: pears, peaches, prunes, apples, bananas, sweet potatoes, carrots, butternut squash, and peas.  He likes all of the fruits but isn't such a fan of the peas.
On February 10th we also celebrated Brady turning 6 months!  The time is just flying by.  Here are his stats:
Weight: 14 lbs 9.6 oz (6th, yes 6th, percentile)
Height: 26 inches (22nd percentile)
Head: 44 cm

Because his weight is on the low end we will be heading back to the doctor in one month to do a weight check.  Otherwise, he is right on track.  Although he doesn't have much interest at this point in sitting independently, he is super close to crawling!  He never wants to sit because he wants to get onto his belly so he can MOVE!!  We have to watch what we leave around now because he can get anywhere he wants to.  He gets up onto his knees, pushes with his toes, and scoots forward.  As soon as he figures out to move his arms he will really be on the move!

We are pretty sure his biggest motivator is keeping up with his big bro!
Speaking of the big bro, he is loving wrestling lately!  I am in trouble once there are two!

Ethan pulled out his tent the other day and the two boys had a ton of fun playing together getting in and out of the tent.  Ethan even let me take a quick picture of them together, with a smile and everything!
Just this past weekend, we made a special trip to Chicago with Mike's mom to see the Shedd Aquarium and Chicago Children's Museum.  We left on a Friday morning and came back to town on Saturday afternoon.  Although it was a busy weekend, we had a ton of fun!!  Just after arriving in Chicago and eating a quick lunch, we headed out to the aquarium.  Brady hung out in the front pack and was AMAZING despite having a temp and runny nose the whole time!
Ethan loved the aquarium and getting to spend some good quality time with grandma!  He also was a good boy considering he skipped his nap for the day!
This was Ethan's favorite creature, the spider crab.  Pretty sure we watched him for the longest time and also had to come back to see him again at a later point.
I think the rest of us agreed the jellyfish was one of the best parts.  There were all different kinds of jellyfish and lots of random facts.  The exhibit also came at the perfect time.  The area was dark and there was soothing music playing, perfect for Brady to go to sleep!

Another part of the aquarium was designed for kids.  Ethan got to play in the water...
and even touch a starfish and sea urchin!
Although it's hard to see in this picture, the aquarium simulates the waves coming in to shore in this exhibit.  Ethan liked watching all of the water splash up on the rocks.
Another favorite was the sharks!

Here are some rays.  Ethan was a little hesitant at first to step out onto the glass over the ray exhibit but eventually was brave enough!
Photo op!  Sitting on a sea turtle :)

Ethan cooperated a bit better when he could do it all by himself, go figure!
After a busy day, we went to the Rainforest Cafe for dinner and then back to the hotel for some swim time!  Ethan had a ton of fun playing in the pool with Mike.  He had fun flying into the air...
 riding on dad's back,
 racing around the pool,
 hanging out with dad,
and even touching the bottom!!

Brady had fun just hanging out with grandma poolside!
After a very, very, busy day, the boys pretty much passed out!!  It let me have some pretty good snuggle time though :)
Ethan later on in the night :)
The next morning after eating breakfast and hanging out for a bit, we headed off to the Chicago Children's Museum.  There were lots of really cool exhibits.  The first was all about fires and firefighting.
Next we went to a room full of little mini toys.  Ethan had fun looking for all of the furry little balls he could find in the room.
And then doing what he does, organizing!
Probably the biggest hit of the day was the dinosaur exhibit.  He got to dig for dinosaurs!

Then we went in the truck where he said we were driving to find more dinos!
Next stop was the mini "city." He took Mike for a drive in this exhibit :)
Then built a plumbing system with grandma.
Although he thought the pipes were ophthalmoscopes!  He checked out my eyes and Brady's and said they were good :)

Brady even participated in the fun and wore a hard hat :)
After the museum, we had a quick lunch and headed back to Janesville.  If we had any doubt if the boys were tired from their busy weekend, they quickly showed just how tired they were.  They both went to bed at 7pm without a peep and Ethan woke up at 7 am (late for him) and Brady slept til 8 am!!

Ethan continues to work on his drawing abilities.  We are amazed with how good he is at it!  It's like he learned overnight how to draw people and animals.  Here is his version of Gargamel (not sure on the spelling) from The Smurfs movie.
Our sweet boys saying goodnight, they sure do love each other! :)
